Editorial Standards

This site exists to explain. It documents what government authorities publish about FBI Identity History Summaries and their use abroad, in a form a non-specialist can read. It does not sell a service, recommend a provider, or accept payment for placement.

1. Every factual claim carries a citation to a primary source. A claim that cannot be cited is not published.
2. Where an authority publishes nothing on a question, we say so plainly and leave the gap open. We do not fill it.
3. We do not name, rank, rate, or link to commercial providers of any service described here.
4. We do not publish estimates of duration, cost, or outcome that no authority has published.
5. Every page carries the date it was last reviewed, not merely the date it was written.
6. Corrections are published as corrections, with the date and what changed. Errors are not edited away silently.

Pages are written and reviewed editorially rather than attributed to individual bylines. What is attributable is the source: every claim resolves to a named document from a named publisher with the date it was last read. That is the accountability that matters for reference material, and it is checkable by anyone.
